Legal
Privacy policy
This is a small website, and so is what it learns about you. Here is exactly what that amounts to.
Who is responsible
Responsible for the processing of personal data on this website is Khov Digital Advertising, Calvin Khov, Milchgasse 32, 5000 Aarau, Switzerland.
This policy follows the revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP / DSG), in force since 1 September 2023.
When you visit the site
The pages are hosted on Cloudflare’s infrastructure. When you open a page, Cloudflare processes technical access data: your IP address, the address requested, the date and time, and details about your browser and operating system. Without that data a page can neither be delivered nor protected against attack.
That access data is not looked at individually by Khov Digital Advertising, and no profile is built from it. How long Cloudflare keeps it is Cloudflare’s to decide; no retention period verified here can be stated.
The site itself sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser while you read it.
When you use the contact form
What gets sent is what you typed: your name, your e-mail address, optionally your company and the area of work, your message, the language of the page and the time you sent it.
Those details arrive with Calvin Khov as an e-mail. Neither your IP address nor your browser’s identifier appears in that e-mail, and neither is stored anywhere else alongside it.
The details serve to answer your enquiry, and nothing else. No newsletter, and no passing them to anyone beyond the processors listed below.
The legal basis under the Swiss DSG is the pre-contractual relationship your enquiry opens, together with the legitimate interest in answering an enquiry you sent yourself.
The server that receives the form writes one line per request with the status and the class of error. Nothing you wrote appears in that log.
Statistics about the site
This website measures which pages get read and how fast they load. Cloudflare Web Analytics runs on every page for that.
It works without cookies. By Cloudflare’s own documentation it uses no client-side state such as cookies or localStorage, and it identifies nobody by IP address, user-agent string or any other signal. On a second visit it does not recognise you.
What is visible is page views, countries, the referring page, browser and operating system, rough device types and loading times, added up and never per person. Under the Swiss FADP no consent banner is required for this; the tool still belongs in a privacy policy, which is why it is named here.
Processors involved
Four functions of this website run on external services from two providers. That is all of them: anything missing from this list does not happen on this site. Where the form e-mail is stored afterwards is covered under “How long things stay”.
Cloudflare: hosting and delivery
Cloudflare, Inc. is a US company and runs the hosting and delivery of this website. Every request travels over Cloudflare’s global network; it is normally served from a location in Europe or Switzerland, but it may in principle be processed at any location on that network, including outside Switzerland and the EU.
What is processed is the technical access data described above under “When you visit the site”.
Cloudflare Turnstile: protecting the form
So that the contact form cannot be abused by bots, Cloudflare Turnstile runs inside it. The widget checks in your browser whether the request comes from a human, and sends technical browser signals to Cloudflare in order to do so.
When you submit, this website’s server sends the result of that check together with your IP address to Cloudflare for confirmation. The IP address serves only that confirmation: it is not stored by Khov Digital Advertising, and it does not appear in the e-mail that arrives.
By Cloudflare’s documentation, Turnstile does not access or transmit what you type into the form.
Cloudflare Web Analytics: statistics
The cookieless statistics described above under “Statistics about the site”. The measurement point is operated by Cloudflare; what is recorded is the page view, loading times and rough technical characteristics, no profile and no recognition.
Resend: sending the form e-mail
Resend, Inc. sends the e-mail that your form enquiry becomes. Sending is configured for the EU region (Ireland).
Resend processes exactly the fields you submitted: name, e-mail address, company, area of work, message, language and time. It is sending only: no open or click tracking, no newsletter function, no tracking pixel.
Links to other services
Some links lead to other providers’ services, such as LinkedIn or, for sending a message, WhatsApp. As long as you do not click such a link, this website transmits nothing to these providers. If you follow one, their own privacy policies apply; anyone who writes via WhatsApp shares their phone number and the message with WhatsApp (Meta).
Cookies and browser storage
This website sets no cookies of its own and puts nothing into localStorage or sessionStorage. There is therefore no cookie banner, not because one was forgotten, but because there would be nothing to consent to.
One exception does not come from this website: Cloudflare may set technical cookies for security and operation, and the Turnstile widget on the contact page may store technical values in your browser inside its own frame. Both serve the security check rather than advertising, and neither is set nor read by this website.
How long things stay
Form e-mails stay in the Khov Digital Advertising mailbox until the enquiry is closed. That mailbox is hosted by Infomaniak in Switzerland (kSuite Mail); that is where your message sits once Resend has delivered it. If it turns into a project, they become correspondence and are kept for as long as the statutory retention periods require.
You can ask at any time for an enquiry and the correspondence around it to be deleted, as long as no retention obligation stands in the way.
Cloudflare’s own retention periods apply to the access and statistics data. No copy of it is kept here.
Your rights
Under the Swiss FADP you have the right to be told what data this website processes about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, and to have data deleted.
An informal e-mail to calvin@calvinkhov.ch is enough. Calvin Khov answers these himself; proof of identity is asked for only where you could not otherwise be identified.
If you are not satisfied with the answer, you can take it to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC / EDÖB).
Contact for privacy questions
Anything about this text or about your data goes straight to Calvin Khov. There is no separate data protection office; in a sole proprietorship that would be the same person anyway.
Changes
If something changes about the site or about the services it uses, this text changes too. The version that counts is the one on this page.
